Updated Script and Storyboard Blog Post

We have changed small bits in the script by getting rid of certain scenes and adding a new crime search scene for the detective. It helped to transition into the final scene of the film opener. INT. UNKNOWN PLACE  WE OPEN  To the sound of heavy footsteps. The camera follows the footsteps of a man in black shoes until he stops. We then see a light switch illuminated by a faint light coming from outside. Lighting Blog Post

We used 2 separate lighting, low-key lighting during the interrogation scene and high-key lighting during the scene where the detective is getting ready. The low-key lighting signifies a tense and dangerous scene and it helps when trying to build tension. However, the high key lighting signifies a safe or calm area. We did not implement any lighting while editing due to complications on the clips.

Group Dynamics Blog Post

Our filming has gone well. Everyone in the group has pulled their own weight and we all contributed around the same work, with filming, acting, dealing with the lighting, and more. Watching examples of other film openers on Youtube has helped dramatically in the process of making our own film opener. We used these to brainstorm and create our own ideas.

Sound Blog Post

Joshua was responsible for editing the film opener, and used Adobe Premier Pro 2025. He decided to use the font “Typedeer Mono”. We used nondiegetic and diegetic sound, but there was more of diegetic sound because we agreed that it would make the film opener seem more realistic and create suspense that music wouldn’t add.

Editing Post 1 Blog Post

Image
Adobe Premiere Pro 2025 is being used, and besides the fact that Joshua was still figuring out how to edit, there were no  problems encountered during editing. There are static effects being used on the title screen, and there are mostly straight cuts with a screen to signify that time has passed and what amount of time. The main problem being faced was the entirety of the process of editing itself. This problem was resolved however, once editing was figured out.

Challenges in Filming Blog Post

What are the challenges involved in filming? Challenges involved in filming could be: Technical issues such as camera malfunction or bad lighting, differences and disagreements in the filming team, getting permission to film in certain locations, unpredictable weather, and more. We are handling these challenges by using tools that can provide better lighting, working together to solve our problems and improve, avoiding using areas that require permission, and we are all pulling our own weight.

Title Sequence Blog Post

To describe the making the title sequence, we wanted something to grab audiences' attention, starting with something eye catching. For the choice of font/colors/style we wanted it to fit the themes and vibe of the movie, so the font is similar to a typewriter along with the black and white referencing the way TVs didn't have color back in the day.

Filming blog post

My first day filming was fun. What went well was the lighting. This is because we needed a light to come down from above to give shadows, high contrast, and dark tones. We did not really have trouble, but it was not all done in the first day because one of the group members had to leave. We will finish filming next weekend.  We hardly needed reshoots, sound and video was not a problem because it was all recorded on my phone, which has good camera and speaker quality.

Color Use Blog Post

Color is used in the setting to give off an uneasy, unsettling feeling. This is because the setting is sometimes set in a dark, strange area, and these colors can be contrasted with the colors of another setting in the film, being the police station with the bright lights and colors inside. The meanings and messages that can be sent through the use of these colors can be that the setting may be dangerous or unsafe to be in judging by the dark colors.

Supporting Character analysis Blog Post

What is the character type  of your supporting characters based on Vladimir Popp's analysis? The supporting characters in the film, based off Vladimir Popp's Analysis, are villains.  Describe their physical characteristics, costuming, and props associated with them. The supporting characters are muscular assassins who wear suits and use guns because of their job. Describe who they are in terms of their personality and communication style. They are calm and patient, have no emotion, and they have a very monotone voice.  Explain their mental state, their motivations, psychological state, etc.  Their mental state is characterized by a desire for control, they have traits of sociopathy, and may have motivations like revenge.

Mood Board Blog Post

Image
My Mood Board is supposed to capture an eerie or strange feeling whenever the villains are on screen, and a sense of hope when Vedant, the detective is on screen. This mood fits the genre of the film because of the dark settings the film sometimes has.
