Movie Analysis Post

The movie I chose for my Movie Analysis Post was Sonic The Hedgehog.

The movie is about Sonic, the fastest hedgehog in the world, who is found by a police officer in a small town. As a team, they have to beat a bad scientist who really wants to do an experiment on Sonic and protect the world from the scientists plans to take over. This film had several kinds of shots, including an establishing shot, a point of view shot, a two shot, and an aerial shot. Camera angles are very important in every television show and/or movie because they tell you a story about the show or movie you are watching, they express the emotion of a character during a scene, and they offer you a feeling of what may or may not happen next at some point in the future of that show/movie.

One of the first shots in the film is an Establishing Shot, which shows a police officer in the city of Green Hills, Montana, waiting for another car to pass by while he is seated in his vehicle, with a speed meter. While the officer is waiting for a vehicle to actually drive past him, he is acting out and replicating the sounds of a car in order to give the impression that he is checking the speed of a vehicle. There are multiple split clips of the cop acting as if he is doing a speed check in this particular scene. After that, he uses the walkie talkie to tell jokes to one of his partners who is calling to see how he is doing while he is at his post. After he had finished his conversation with his colleague, a point-of-view shot was taken that showed the direction in which the speed check was directed, with the camera focusing on the thing that he was speed inspecting. An animal, specifically a turtle, was the only thing that was found in the road at the time. After that, the officer began to monitor the turtle's speed, which turned out to be a very slow pace of -0.01. As a sarcastic joke, the police officer yelled at the turtle, "Hey, buddy! Where is the fire? Got kids living around here.” Halfway through the movie the next shot I viewed was a combination of a two shot and aerial shot. In this scene, the police officer and his girlfriend were trying to get away from the killer robot drone that was attempting to kill them. When the couple found themselves trapped on the roof of a building, they realized there was nowhere else for them to go. The two-shot scene showed that the couple was terrified since they realized that their only chance to make an attempt to escape was to possibly jump off the extremely tall building. Before the drones could hit the couple, Sonic came and quickly pushed them off the tall building. This is where the aerial shot came about. This shot demonstrated a slow effect of the couple falling off the building.
