Mood Board Blog Post
The horror genre is identified by its power to induce fear, suspense, dread, and more. They use these elements to build up the tension and make the audience watching feel disturbed. The setting or atmosphere plays a large role in the horror genre such as abandoned buildings, flickering lights, and long, dark hallways. Also, sounds like whispers or blood curdling screams are a important part of the mood. Altogether, these are all key components that make the audience scared about what will happen next.
Another must-have essential element in the horror genre is the appearance or presence of a threat, including disturbing, unsettling creatures, evil spirits or ghosts, and psychotic killers. Sometimes, horror films are unpredictable and difficult to guess what will happen, so the audience gets this thrilled feeling from not knowing what will happen next to the characters. For instance, a spirit could be tormenting a house of an innocent family and it could be hard to figure out who will make it and survive to get into the sequel.
This genre interests me because I like the thrilling and unsettled feeling I get while watching a horror film. I believe the mood board represents my genre well because these are all images one would associate with horror. Not only the images, but the background as well. Red could be associated with horror and blood, so I drew the blood spatter around and layering over some of the images.
